The Christmas spirit has officially arrived at our Tytherington quarry, with the installation of a 17ft high metal Christmas tree.
Standing tall and bright near the quarry entrance, the giant festive display is illuminated with colourful lights and topped with a star.
The idea for the tree was suggested during our latest liaison meeting, which we host regularly as part of our continued efforts to engage with the local community.
“We wanted to share some Christmas cheer around Tytherington,” said James Brown, Unit Manager. “The tree is visible as you enter the village so we’re pleased the local community can enjoy it too.”
Blasting notifications
To keep our near neighbours informed about planned quarry blasts, we have introduced a free blast notification service for residents living close to Tytherington quarry.
Quarry blasting in the UK is highly regulated and extensive monitoring highlights that all blasts at Tytherington quarry are well within permitted limits.
Monument stones from Tytherington quarry add finishing touches to war memorial at Severn Beach
Our Tytherington quarry has donated three large monument stones for use in a local war memorial at Severn Beach, South Gloucestershire.
On completion, the memorial will consist of three oak pillars and plaques to represent each branch of the armed forces - the Army, Navy and Air Force, and is intended to provide a dedicated, local space for reflection and remembrance.
We were pleased to welcome many local people to our drop in event in March at which we outlined proposals to extract limestone from additional reserves within the quarry’s existing boundary.
