Timing for essential National Grid work confirmed
National Grid has confirmed the timings of the work it is carrying out to enhance the resilience of the electrical supply at Tytherington quarry.
Previously, the high voltage (HV) electrical sub-station at our site supplied the needs of the quarry and asphalt plant but also fed power to Tytherington village.
Following discussions with National Grid, it has been decided that it made sense to separate the electricity supply pathways so that any possible disruption to either will not impact the other. As a result, a new substation supplying the village is being located outside of our site boundary, making access for National Grid easier going forward.
The cost of the work is being fully borne by Heidelberg Materials and our £400,000 investment will mean improved electrical supply reliability for the quarry and the local community.
National Grid has confirmed the following timings:
- Tuesday May 9 – Friday May 26: work will take place on the main Tytherington Road from our quarry entrance towards the village, which will necessitate traffic lights being in place. The work will be carried out during the day, but the traffic lights will be in operation 24 hours a day for this period.
- w/c Monday June 19: work will start within the quarry entrance and adjoining field. No road or power disruption is planned at this time.
- Wednesday July 5 and Thursday July 6: HV works will be carried out. Any properties affected during this time will be sent a letter by National Grid.
- Saturday July 15: HV works within the quarry boundary will begin.
All works are being carried out by National Grid and could be subject to change, who can be contacted on 0800 096 3080 (8am-5pm).
