8 April 2025 - We have been granted planning permission to build a carbon capture plant (CCP) at our Padeswood cement works, marking a major milestone for the project.
4 October 2024 - We have welcomed the Government’s announcement today to drive ahead with investment in carbon capture and storage (CCS) clusters, including the HyNet North West decarbonisation cluster – which takes in our Padeswood carbon capture and storage project.
30 March 2023 - We have today progressed to the due diligence and negotiation phase in our bid to install carbon capture technology at our Padeswood cement works through the Government’s Phase-2 cluster sequencing programme.
25 March 2024 - We have signed a statement of principles with the UK Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero for our planned carbon capture plant at Padeswood cement works.
12 August 2022 - Our Padeswood cement works has been shortlisted for funding as part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s (BEIS) Phase 2 Carbon Capture and Storage Cluster Sequencing process.
4 May 2022 - Wales Minister David TC Davies MP has visited our Padeswood plant to hear first-hand about our plans to upgrade the site to become the UK’s first net zero cement works.
22 October 2021 - HyNet North West is one of two industrial clusters to receive Track 1 backing under the government’s carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) cluster sequencing process.
New faces join the Padeswood team
We are delighted to welcome four new faces to the Padeswood team. Buckley boys Harry Hughes, 17, and Jacob McAughrey, 16, have joined as mechanical apprentices and both are attending Coleg Cambria, Deeside, studying for a BTEC Level 3 in Engineering.
Two of our works’ engineers are spreading their wings to share the knowledge and experience they have gained at Padeswood with our colleagues in Australia and the USA.
Cefn Mawr quarry opens its doors for biodiversity competition
Cefn Mawr quarry, near Mold, which provides the limestone needed for cement manufacture at Padeswood works, is among the sites participating in the fifth round of the company’s biodiversity competition, the Quarry Life Award.
