New trucks to support quarry efficiencies
Two new fuel-efficient CAT 777G dumper trucks have been commissioned at Whatley – the first of five to arrive as part of our £10 million plant upgrade.
They can each hold up to 100 tonnes of material and, as well as saving fuel and energy, are fully lined, which will make a significant contribution in reducing the noise associated with loading.
The new 10.78m long trucks also require specialist training to operate, including 150 hours of driver assessment, which our site’s 12 operators will receive.
Operations manager Vincent Pitt said: “The trucks are a key part of our £10 million plant investment and should make a big difference in terms of efficiency, while mitigating noise. They will bring real benefits to the way we operate, and we look forward to the arrival of three more later this year.”
