Road closures to support tree felling

There will be a series of forthcoming road closures around our Chipping Sodbury landholding to support the safe removal of trees with ash dieback disease.

This forms part of our licensed programme of tree-felling and the road closures, which have been approved by South Gloucestershire Council (SGC), will ensure our contractors can work safely and the public are protected.

The road closures cover:

  • Nighttime closures on Wickwar Road between 19:30 – 06.00 from Monday 17 and Tuesday 25 February.
The area affected extends from the junction with Peg Hill to the junctions with Bury Hill Lane and Mapleridge Lane.

  • Sunday closures on Wickwar Road between 08.00 - 18.00 on 02, 09 and 16 March.
Wickwar Road will be closed to all traffic north of the roundabout abutting Drovers Way (leading to Waitrose) and St Johns Way. Access from the south (from Chipping Sodbury High Street) into both Drovers Way and St Johns Way is unaffected.

SGC is responsible for the road diversions and relevant highways signage. Maps detailing the diversions that will be in place can be downloaded below:

More information is also on available on SGC’s website at: beta.southglos.gov.uk/local-roadworks-south-gloucestershire

We appreciate that these road closures will cause some inconvenience for those living nearby, but, as tree felling is hazardous, the road closures are necessary. Once the programme is completed we will be carrying out a replanting programme and have already initiated discussion with SGC and others, including Friends of Ridge Wood about this. Steps are expected to include replanting, as well as allowing for some natural regeneration.
