Community grateful for installation of life-saving defibrillators
Two defibrillators and protective cases have been installed in the villages of Chantry and Whatley, near Frome.
The crucial life-saving devices were funded by Tarmac’s Halecombe Quarry and installed by our Whately quarry team, enhancing the safety and well-being of the communities. The joint initiative showcases how the quarry industry comes together to support the local communities in which they operate.
The defibrillators have been strategically placed in accessible locations in each of the villages and are available for public access 24/7. They are designed to provide immediate assistance in an emergency as quick access to a defibrillator can more than double the chances of a person’s survival in the event of cardiac arrest.
Andrew Bramston, Chair of Whatley and Chantry parish council said: “Thanks to the generosity from Halecombe quarry for the grant and Whatley quarry for providing an electrician, the community can now reduce response time and improve the chances of survival for someone suffering from sudden cardiac arrest.”
Vincent Pitt, Unit Manager at Whatley quarry said, “We’re pleased to have been able to play our part with the addition of these life-saving defibrillators to Whatley and Chantry. Our Whatley quarry team has a range of specialist skills and so we were quickly able to install the machines to the required standard.”
Both defibrillators are registered with The Circuit, the national defibrillator network that maps the location of AEDs across the UK.
