Our Batts Combe quarry team met with students at the Kings of Wessex Academy careers event to chat about future opportunities within our industry.

Unit Manager, Simon Parkes, Quarry Operative, Caroline Gold, and Higher Apprentice, Aaron Cocking, were on hand to discuss opportunities and answer questions about working at Heidelberg Materials.

The team highlighted the range of opportunities available across all areas of the business, which include higher apprenticeships, paid internships and graduate trainee management programmes.

Aaron, a former student at the school, recently began the higher apprenticeship programme at Batts Combe quarry, a path he first discovered thanks to the support from the school’s employability co-ordinator, Sally Devlin.

Simon said: “Our connection with local schools is incredibly valuable, and engaging with young people at this stage helps them to understand the career paths that are available to them.”
