Christmas Star Winner - 2024

Congratulations to Year 2 student, Elsie Richens from Draycott First School, who has won our 2024 Batts Combe quarry Christmas colouring competition.

Elsie’s prize included a bag of goodies as well as the big Christmas lights switch on – as she got to push the plunger to switch on the quarry star that shines brightly over the Cheddar area during the festive season. 

Pupils aged 4-9 from Draycott First School, Cheddar First School and Axbridge First School took part in the annual competition, and there were 12 runners up who each received a certificate and a chocolate selection box.

Michelle Beasley, Area Clerk, said: “It’s always such a joy to see the creativity and excitement from students across the schools. The entries this year were fantastic, and it’s wonderful to see so much talent on display.”
