Batts Combe Christmas Star Winner – 2023

A huge congratulations to year two pupil Ollie Lewis from Axbridge First School, who won our 2023 Christmas colouring competition. As well as a set of colouring pencils, his prize included switching on the Batts Combe Christmas star – which shines above the quarry throughout the festive season. 

Over 260 pupils aged 4-9 from Axbridge, Cheddar and Draycott First Schools took part in the competition, with entries judged by Batts Combe Unit Manager Simon Parkes, Senior Landscape Architect Alex Hemmings, Territory Sales Manager Beki Devine and Area Clerk Michelle Beasley. 

Michelle Beasley said: “All of the entries were wonderful, but we agreed that Ollie’s really stood out. With many of the team living locally, we know how much the Cheddar Star means to the community, so we were thrilled to welcome Ollie and his family to Batts Combe for this year’s big reveal.”
