Gardeners now have smooth, safe approach to allotments

Gardeners in Maesycoed, Pontypridd, can now safely access their allotments after a team from Craig-yr-Hesg quarry resurfaced the access road from the main gate to the site’s meeting shed.

The road was in a very poor state of repair, making it difficult and potentially dangerous for members to access their gardens by car, mobility scooter or even on foot.

Having failed to secure funding through various grant organisations, Andrew House, secretary of the Maesycoed Allotment Association, contacted Heidelberg Materials to ask for assistance.

Andrew House added: “We are extremely grateful to Heidelberg Materials for their support. The team was extremely professional and completed the project quickly and efficiently. It was a fantastic early Christmas present for our members and will allow them much easier and safer access to their allotments for many years to come.”

We donated 13.5 tonnes of asphalt and provided 36 hours of labour to lay the 35-metre section of road.
