Heidelberg Materials donates aggregate to Brecon Beacons National Park

Heidelberg Materials is donating 400 tonnes of 0/6mm aggregate to Brecon Beacons National Park for refurbishment of the Arcway Footpath.

The Arcway is the old railway line that was previously used to transport materials from Heidelberg Materials's limestone quarry in Penderyn to the main train line in Hirwaun. It became redundant when transportation methods switched from rail to road in the 60’s.

The railway line was sold off and came into the Brecon Beacons National Park's ownership in the 90’s when it became a unitary authority.

The line is a popular walking cycling and horse riding spot for the public, in particular local Hirwaun and Penderyn residents.
